Quote

The hub every engine reads

Configuration, the line editor, approvals, documents

The quote is the sales transaction: the record that the configurator, the pricing engine and the document engine all read from and write back to. Getting its date and period fields right is what decides whether anything downstream can bill.

The architecture

The Quote-to-Cash chain 9 stages · 3 phases

Scroll the diagram sideways

The stage worth staring at is the billing schedule. It is produced by the engine from the order — never created by hand — and if the org prerequisites are not in place it is simply never produced, with no error anywhere. Everything downstream then looks broken for reasons that have nothing to do with billing.
